Description

When communicating cross-culturally, there is a huge opportunity for misunderstandings. Cultural remediation becomes necessary as we enter into a global world connected by travel and the internet.

I use examples from interpreting between Deaf and hearing clients as the basis for explaining differences in cultural understandings and why misunderstandings occur in cross-cultural communication, and why it's imperative to have an openness to acceptance and understanding of the other culture as their perspective is just different from yours, expressed via cultural understanding of and within their language. So many times the problems people experience with people from other cultures is simply a language misinterpretation- not an attack, disrespect or deliberate act of superiority.

Listen to understand better how to recognize the purpose of a loose gear or symptom is to point to the real problem, to be resolved at its root cause, not to be viewed as the problem. Global unity depends on it.
