Description

For season six of History From The Back Pages, host Collin Sugg will review classic films from before 1999 that he has not watched before. For the first episode of season six, he watched The Eiger Sanction from 1975, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Clint Eastwood, George Kennedy, Jack Cassidy, and Vonetta McGee. The plot is about a current art history professor and mountain climber named Jonathon Hemlock, a former assassin for a secretive government agency played by Clint Eastwood. His creepy former boss, the Dragon, played by Thayer David, blackmails him into performing one final sanction of a man who killed one of their operatives. The filming took place in Switzerland, Arizona, Utah, and California. The mountain climbing sequences on Mount Eiger in Switzerland were breathtaking and brilliantly filmed and performed by Clint Eastwood (1:00).
