I decided to review The Reef: Stalked, the sequel to The Reef, an Australian shark horror film from 2010. I have seen The Reef multiple times, and for a lower-budget shark film, it was well done and had enjoyable shark attacks and a decent cast of characters. After twelve years, the original director Andrew Traucki is back.
The sequel is a sequel in name only. You do not have to see The Reef to enjoy this film or understand what is happening in the plot.
The plot involves a young woman's sister dying at the film's beginning. And she develops PTSD after that traumatic event. Then, nine months later, she and three of her friends go on a three-day kayaking trip and are soon stalked by a shark.
