On this weeks episode of Empowered Sobriety Podcast Lindsay and Abby discuss the importance of community in sobriety!
- Abby and Lindsay begin by sharing their friendships and community they had during active addiction and how it transitioned once they became sober. Abby shares about flying solo in the beginning stages of her sobriety and the challenges that came along with that. What she was turned off by in the sober community and what she was able to resource for herself during that difficult time. Lindsay talks about her ignorance in sobriety around community and how supportive it can be to change your environment and community when you choose to experience sobriety. She speaks to her experience in AA after her relapse and how that community in those rooms supported her back to sobriety. Lindsay was able to see the importance of having a sober community while getting sober and staying sober.
- Abby and Lindsay discuss their relationship to God and Spirituality. How it has helped or hindered them and where they are at with it today. Abby has a vulnerable share about why her relationship to God is what it is today and how she is working on it.
- Lindsay tells us all about how she loves her current relationships and she wants more support from a sober community. She shares with us how she joined a Sober Facebook Group and how she has wrestled with this for such a long time. Her doubts, fears and willingness to continue to step in because it is what she truly desires. She is done sitting on the bench and she is putting herself in the game!
- Abby shares with us how her relationship with nature has truly supported her on this journey to and through sobriety. Feeling deeply connected while in the woods and how she ventures out with her friends and with just herself. Lindsay asks her to share about her experience of being in nature alone. Abby shares about a hot dog statistic... followed with some beautiful laughter about the hot dog statistic!
