I can't imagine riding the rails with hundreds of fourth graders. That's just not my vibe. But my guest this week, Julie Esty, lived it this past summer. Dressed in period costume, she and some friends hopped aboard a locomotive that departed from Steamtown National Historic Site to educate school kids and adults about the history of northeast PA.
Once she hung up the dress of a coal miner's wife, she headed to her attic for a costume change and began prepping for this year's The Dunmore Cemetery Tour, a wonderfully informative and entertaining walk through local history. Costumed interpreters tell stories of NEPA's past in vignettes along the tour route in the Dunmore Cemetery.
Tune in to hear this conversation with a woman who makes history fun. We always share a lot of laughs when I hear what Julie has been up to. If you can be in NEPA on Sundays, 9/29 and 10/6, head to the Dunmore Cemetery Tour. It's free and FUN!
