Description

I've said it many times and it's something I believe bears repeating. Regardless of memes or jokes about a place--whether Scranton, New Jersey or West Virginia--every place has its problems, but every place is still home to someone.

You can often find me rolling my eyes when I hear people complain there's nothing to do in Scranton (or Northeast PA) and then I promptly rattle off some of my favorite places or list upcoming events to check out.

My guest this week is someone who shares my love for the city of Scranton where she shows that passion through her civic involvement on boards of directors, stumping for votes and supporting nonprofits, events and good times throughout the region.

Scranton resident Sarah Cruz is on the board of directors at the NEPA Youth Shelter and at the Scranton Housing Authority, working to help all area residents have access to safe, affordable housing with dignity.

This week Sarah and I focus on housing but manage to cover a couple other topics as well. If you would like to follow up with Sarah, you can reach her at scruz@scrantonhousing.net. If you would like to stay informed with what's happening with housing in Scranton, you can attend Housing Authority board meetings monthly at the main building at 400 Adams Ave. in Scranton on the first Monday of each month at 5 p.m.
