Description

For six years fashion designer Kate Spade, known primarily for her handbags that were modern and sleek, battled with severe depression. That battle ended for her when she died by suicide on June 5, 2018 and shocked the fashion and entertainment world.

The Kate Spade company states its social mission on its website that in 2018 they reaffirmed their commitment to their work for women's mental health stating: "Today, our goal is simple: we’re committed to supporting 100,000 women and girls by 2025. This year, we’re investing $5m in women’s empowerment and mental health globally." Learn more about their commitment to women's mental health here.

Fashion and mental health. How do they go hand-in-hand? It is true that how we look can affect how we feel and vice versa.

On this week's episode of my podcast, I talk with fashion blogger and fellow Scrantonian Maggie McGregor who was deeply impacted by Kate Spade's death and who shares more than fashionable looks in her writing and social media content.

She shares her authentic self on her Instagram Reels series "I'm Not A Therapist, But I Go to Therapy" and through her blog Style Mag Daily.

By following Maggie, you will learn about fashion but you will also benefit from her honesty and work to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health.

I hope that you will share this episode with someone who could benefit. And if you would like to help support this podcast, please consider investing as little as five bucks to my Buy Me A Coffee page so I can continue to share conversations with more fabulous women like Maggie.
