Obamacare was truly an expansion of government bureaucracy, the biggest since the New Deal. But did it reduce healthcare costs, reduce the number of people without health insurance, and make healthcare better? No, and that’s why it will be a big issue in the 2020 election. The best thing it accomplished was stopping insurance companies from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions. For better or worse, it also greatly expanded Medicaid.
