For black history month I read 2 books (1 old, 1 new) written by African-Americans. The older one, written in 1845, was by Fredrick Douglas. He escaped slavery and became an intellectual. The other book is a biography of Andrew Johnson by Annette Gordon-Reed. There are lessons about racism and white supremacy. Both represent real and true American history, unlike the 1619 project.
