In this episode we explore why writing characters of color can be difficult (even for POC writers). The call for representation of marginalized communities in published books has exponentially increased since 2020. As publishers try to jump on this trend of diversity and inclusion, what are some of the challenges that writers face while attempting to meet this demand? We reflect on the past, present, and future of diverse representation in literature all while wondering how we as writers can authentically encapsulate the varied perspectives of the world around us.
