After contracting a dreaded lurgy at the end of December 2022, I have been unable to record until my voice was strong enough again.
I present to you, dear listener, the first of a new series. A series of apocalyptic tales from long ago, from authors who had not experienced the horrors of either World Wars, the Wright Brothers' first flight, the Internet, the Space Race, Nuclear Warfare, nor any other technological breakthrough of the 20th Century. These are world's that truly take us back to a time where technology as we know it, did not exist.

This story is over one hundred years old. This means it is very much of its time and can use words and phrases that, by today’s standards, could be considered offensive or at best, strange to our modern ears.
I have done my best to change words or phrases that are obviously needlessly offensive, however, I cannot guarantee that I have found them all, or am even aware of the possible origins of some, and so if what I read does have negative connotations that causes offense, I apologise and direct you to the author of the works being read.
