Description

Augustus Williamson, a young black man from Mattapan, had dreams of a better life, but his fateful encounter in Southie would change everything. As the story surrounding his death changes with each layer that is peeled back, it exposes the racial prejudice and injustice surrounding his untimely death.

But the mystery doesn't end there. Jules Fennessey, a born and bred Southie, never comes home the night of Augustus Williamson’s death. And as her mother, Mary Pat, digs into what happened on her daughter’s last night, she discovers that her daughter may have had a connection to the young man found dead on the train tracks.

This episode delves into the personal stories of those involved, including Mary Pat Fennessey, a relentless mother on a mission to find the truth and seek her own form of justice. As tensions rise and secrets unravel, the lines between right and wrong blur in a place where loyalty to the neighborhood can mean turning a blind eye to crime.

Today’s episode is based on the book Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane.
