Recently, as I was running errands with my youngest son, he was busy people watching. Out of the blue he asked me, "do all these people know who we are?'' It had dawned upon him that most people in the world were strangers to us. And, in turn, most of them didn't know we existed at all, let alone know us well.
My son quickly went back to watching the world go by, but his question stayed with me. It's true that we only know a small number of people in our lifetimes. We know an even smaller number well. In fact how well do we really know anyone or even ourselves? How do we change with time and circumstance?
