“Know thyself”. How many times you have read this short sentence? And yet, how much do you really know yourself?
If you don’t know where to start, you will never reach your destination, right?
I had the great pleasure of talking to Sue Belton about self-awareness. Sue is an amazing human being, fun and with a lot of engaging energy. She is a leadership coach, a best-selling author, and a podcast host.
We talked a lot about the importance of being self-aware because – from her experience (and mine as well) many people are exhausted and stressed out and they don’t know what’s making them do that. In her words, “You can't change something if you don't understand it if you're not actually aware of what's running you.”
The conversation touched upon other great topics, such as the role of emotional intelligence in being a good leader. We are emotional creatures and being in control of what triggers us is fundamental in any relationship, including at work.
Sue also presented her controversial view on meditation: “Screw meditation”, she says.
