A candid conversation with one of the brilliant physicists who returned to India after higher studies with the world’s top scientists. Now working at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in quantum computing. Sadly, India is not in the top 10 countries in this technology that is set to defeat all conventional systems. A national security game-changer.
Unlike India, other countries have a defence-industry-academic complex leading such work. QC will create breakthroughs in fields like satellites, medicine, energy, materials science, finance, telecommunications. The Indian budget for QC has recently increased but still small compared to USA and China.
Furthermore, Indians’ work in this is scattered and casually coordinated without a large-scale central body. The most tragic flaw is in the Indian patent laws that do not protect innovation.
