‘Shruti’ is a very profound term of Sanskrit and it is sometimes mistranslated to English as ‘That which is heard’. Ancient Indian rishi-s experienced a resonance with the subtle and supra-physical cosmic forces during samadhi leading to the manifestation of Vedic mantra-s in their inner self. These Vedic mantra-s are referred to as Shruti-s. Shruti does not refer to something heard physically. Shruti is another term used to refer to the Veda and hence Shruti-s are eternal and not authored by any human being. This video discusses the need to regard the word ‘Shruti’ as an important Sanskrit non-translatable.
