When our minds are drifting to sleep, we enter the theta state. During the theta state, we're pretty much on auto pilot. Our minds enter a relaxed, meditative state of mind, putting it into a very receptive state. This is the perfect time to listen to affirmations because there will be no resistance to accepting these new and improved thought patterns. Typically we listen to affirmations to re-program old and stagnant thought patterns. When we're in a relaxed state we are able to re-wire the neurotransmitters in our brain more effectively.

3. Breathwork: Finding a relaxing breathing technique to help you calm the mind and body before sleep is a great way to end the day and increase your body's ability to recover while it rests.
