The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine. It's energy is responsible for our sense of safety and security and corresponds with our basic core needs. When it is out of alignment, life can feel a bit chaotic, you may lack any drive or motivation to get anything done, you might have a short emotional fuse and get really angry really quickly and most likely you'll feel very insecure or lethargic. When the Root or Muladhara Chakra energy is balanced, you'll feel a sense of connection with yourself and others, you will feel confident and secure wherever you go, and you'll feel very grounded with a healthy sense of control over your life.
3 ways to balance the root chakra:
1. Practice A Mindful Walking Meditation: This is one of the most powerful tools I have ever used! I personally prefer to do it outside and barefoot so I can connect my body directly to the Earth's healing energies. You can just feel all of the sensations in your feet as you do this, or you can practice saying "I am ___" statements or "I am not ___" statements with each and every step. I prefer using the I Am statements while using this tool to connect with the sense of divine oneness. Usually I start by saying that I Am whatever I see in front of me i.e. I am the wind, I am the clouds, I am the dirt, I am the leaves, I am the butterflies... Then move into different personality traits both positive and negative. i.e. I am loud, I am quiet, I am strong, I am weak, I am a bitch, I am so sweet, I am divine, I am nothing, I am everything... etc. This helps to humble the ego in my opinion and remove any judgments from what I say that I am in the moment. This is best practiced for anywhere between 30-60 minutes at a time.
2. Try Out Some Grounding Yoga Asanas Or Positions: Tree Pose is an amazingly grounding and balancing pose and can help infuse a sense of strength and stability within the body. Even just standing in a strong Mountain Pose as you imagine the energy from your body growing roots into the ground beneath you with your head held high as you feel powerful and solidly planted and secure within your sacred space.
3. Dance Around To These Affirmations Daily: If you don't think you can dance, even just flailing around can be one of the most effective ways to feel comfortable in your body again. You'll begin to notice which muscles are stimulating with each movement, bringing your awareness back inward and most likely you'll almost immediately start to emotionally feel better as you organically move your energy around. Pair that with these grounding and empowering affirmations and voila, you'll have a purely magical experience.
