Depression can be a sneaky little demon. It comes when you least expect it and usually sticks around way longer than it needs to. Using these affirmations can help to remind you of your inner wisdom and power. You hold the power to change your state of being at any time. In case no one has told you yet, it's okay to reach out for help when you need it most. I encourage you to find the help you need to get out of this state of mind. It's no fun and this life is meant to be lived happily and fully. I wish you the best in this journey and hope you are able to enter back into the light sooner rather than later.

One way to think about depression is to identify it as a thought pattern, instead of something that describes who you are. Depression usually contains thought patterns full of self hatred, feelings of unworthiness, blaming yourself for things that are out of your control, feelings of failure, and other self-destructive beliefs. That's the thing though, it's simply a belief system. Belief systems can be re-programmed. At some point you've convinced yourself that these negative thoughts are true... Now you can convince yourself that they're not. You are worthy of all of the greatest things this life has to offer. You deserve to be able to love fully and be fully loved. Things happen because they are meant to happen and that has nothing to do with you. You're not a failure, you've just learned a lot of lessons throughout your experience here.

3 Simple Ways To Overcome Depression:

  1. Stay physically active: Regular exercise can help boost mood and reduce symptoms of depression. This one can be really tough, your emotions and thoughts can make your body feel suuuuper heavy and make it so you don't want to move. However if you can find it in you to just do even 3 minutes of movement, you'll slowly but surely begin to feel better. Our emotions get stored in our deep tissues so moving your body can help to release emotions as you move that stagnant energy around and regain your sense of control. Doing slower movements targeted towards release such as somatic exercises will help a ton.
  2. Connect with others: Spending time with friends and family, or joining a support group, can help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. Be sure to spend time with the correct people. If you find that you feel energetically or physically drained after spending time with someone, this can actually make your situation worse.
  3. Practice self-care: Taking care of your basic needs, such as getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and engaging in activities you enjoy can also help improve mood and reduce depression symptoms. You could even try writing yourself a love note every day reminding you of what you have to be grateful for. Repeating these affirmations in the mirror is one of the most powerful tools I have personally used to combat feelings and sensations of depression. (Listen to them on repeat - Link Below)
