When we don't feel a whole lot of self worth, it's easy to become overwhelmed by negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves. We may start to believe that we're not capable of accomplishing our goals, or that we're not good enough in some way. We may begin to doubt our decisions, or feel unmotivated to take action. We may even start to feel like we are not worthy of love and acceptance from others.
Feeling self worth is an important part of living a healthy and fulfilling life. When you have a positive opinion of yourself, it can lead to improved mental and physical health, better relationships, greater productivity, and a heightened sense of purpose. Self worth can give you a sense of security, helping you to make decisions that are in your best interest. It also helps you to recognize and accept your strengths and weaknesses, and to rise above the criticism of others.
3 Ways To Improve Your Self Worth:
- Be Kind: Being kind to others can be really easy, being kind to yourself might take a little extra effort - especially if you're not already feeling good about yourself. Making time to celebrate yourself or give yourself compliments is KEY! Try this, every time you catch yourself giving someone else a compliment, give that same compliment to yourself (it works better if you do it in the mirror). Writing down a little reminder that you're amazing helps too! I like using sticky notes or dry erase markers on the mirror.
- Re-Build Your Support System: Sometimes we find ourselves in the middle of a circle of friends or even family that are simply... not supportive. They make fun of you for your dreams or aspirations or literally tell you that what you want to do is impossible or that you shouldn't do it. This can lead to self-deprecating tendencies which can be extremely harmful in the long run. Finding the right types of people who support you and want to see you succeed can help to re-build your self esteem and help you to see your worth. You deserve the best!
- Re-Train Your Brain: As always, listening to affirmations like these on repeat (Link Below) can help you to fully believe in yourself. Most of the time we don't feel worthy because we were made to believe that at some point or another. Learning and creating a new and uplifting thought pattern within your mind allows you to see your value and appreciate all that you are worthy of and deserve.
