What is the place of emuna, trust in HaShem, in a Torah life?

In a letter my mother A”H wrote before a potentially life-ending surgery, she wrote, “Enjoy and cherish every day- don’t worry so much about tomorrow - on what might or might not happen. Do the best you can - but-- if you focus your worry on tomorrow - it makes you lose today AND tomorrow-- If something bad is going to happen it will happen you won’t be able to deny it- at least you have today and so many wonderful things happen in today.”

This episode deals with the difficulty of practically internalizing this attitude based upon an analysis of Sotah 48a-b regarding Men of Emuna. One difficult statement in that Gemara which we take up is: “Whoever has bread in his basket to eat today and says, ‘What will I eat tomorrow?’ is nothing other than from those of little faith.”
