That’s one freaky hex tape!
Welcome to the Critical Mess Movie Podcast, episode 43. Tonight, Nick, Gris, and Brian are talking 2002’s The Ring, starring Naomi Watts, Brian Cox, Martin Henderson, David Dorfman, and Daveigh Chase. This film was directed by Gore Verbinski.
The Ring tells the story of Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts), who finds a cursed VHS tape that allegedly kills you seven days after you watch it. With the help of her dubious ex-husband, Noah (Martin Henderson), they analyze the tape and discover that it actually does create paranormal situations—and might be responsible for killing several people. Brian Cox is also in this movie as Richard Morgan, and even though it’s kind of a small part, this is Brian Cox we’re talking about, so that’s pretty important to mention.
This film has a 71% rating with critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 48% rating with audiences.
