As Americans, we love liberty - we sing about it, have gargantuan statues memorialized for it, and even name space craft after it. Our common thought is that liberty is the right to do what we want. But that's not true. Philosopher Dallas Willard clarified that "to do what you want can be the greatest prison you can be in. It all depends on what you want. And the way out, of course, is to realize that what I want must be what God wants, and that is what's best for me. Freedom *from* is very different from freedom *to*."
