A graduate of New York University's (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, Joseph Pearlman is an acting coach for Hollywood celebrities, musicians, and comedians—he helps actors launch their careers faster and reach Oscar potential on set. He works with artists like Zooey Deschanel ("New Girl"), Eugene Simon ("Game of Thrones"), Skylar Grey (five time Grammy nominee with Rihanna and Eminem), Iliza Shlesinger (comedian, Netflix’s “Elder Millennial”), Alex MacNicoll ("Transparent"), Sherri Shepherd ("30 Rock”), Michael Welch ("The Twilight Saga"), Julian Sands ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"), and he also coaches presenters for all the major award ceremonies, including the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, Golden Globes, and Independent Spirit Awards
In addition to his work with actors, Joseph helps TED Talks speakers, politicians, executives, lawyers, CEOs, and other industry leaders develop charismatic confidence to effect maximum change in their audiences. Joseph had the pleasure of coaching Dr. Joanne Liu throughout her campaign to ultimately win the International Presidency of Doctors Without Borders (MSF). She was on the front lines of epidemics like the Ebola crisis in West Africa.
Joseph is also a regular guest speaker and presenter at USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, McGill University's International Masters for Health Leadership (IMHL) executive program, and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Pearlman Acting Academy was voted “Best Acting Studio” and “Best Acting Coach” in Los Angeles by Backstage Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards—Joseph is a regular contributor to Backstage Magazine and Inc. Magazine. Joseph’s work with actors was recently recognized by The Huffington Post’s national cinema, theatre and art critic James Scarborough, and he was named one of the industry’s “Top Ten Acting Gurus” by The New York Times reviewed “Actor Genie.” Also located in New York, Pearlman Acting Academy (PAA) offers private coaching and classes from celebrity to working professional and beginner.
