Bakersfield City CouncilwomanManpreet Kaur has lived in Bakersfield her entire life. A Ridgeview High School grad, Manpreet holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego, as well as Master's degrees in Science, Urban and Regional Planning and in Public Affairs from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Manpreet has been involved in policy work locally, statewide and nationally to redefine what is possible through dedicated collaboration. In 2016 she started Kern County’s chapter of theJakara Movement that has now served thousands of local residents. Manpreet continues to serve as the director of community development for the local chapter.
Elected in November 2022, Manpreet is the first Sikh Punjabi woman to serve on the Bakersfield City Council (Ward 7). Originally aired 3/3/23.
