In this conversation on The Gender Justice Brief, we shine a light on an issue that doesn’t get nearly enough attention: the unequal protection of girls in Minnesota’s juvenile justice system.

This episode was inspired by a keynote address Gender Justice Senior Staff Attorney Sara Jane Baldwin gave at the annual conference of Minnesota’s Advisory Task Force for Justice-Involved Women and Girls, “Beyond the Bars: Partnering with Girls for Meaningful Justice Reform.”

Our guests walk us through the history of Minnesota’s juvenile justice system, explore the systemic inequities girls face today, and discuss how the proposed Equal Rights Amendment could address some of these injustices.

Note: This is the final episode of the season for the podcast. We are taking a break as we focus on the work ahead in 2025. Subscribers will receive notifications of any new episodes recorded in the future.
