Derrek Amidon is the co-owner of Corks & Cuts and the man behind the scenes supporting his wife Candace's vision. A Shreveport, Louisiana native, Derrek left home at 20 for the Dallas-Fort Worth area before returning over 15 years ago to lay down roots once again. With an honorable discharge from the Air Force Reserves at Barksdale AFB and a deep background in competitive swimming, Derrek has served as a swim coach for over a decade, held the role of Age Group Chair for the state, and spoken on behalf of Swim America for USA Swimming. He’s also led as a State Zones Head Coach and brings the same discipline and passion into his CrossFit and wellness lifestyle. As he enters a new chapter, an empty nest and full focus on Corks & Cuts with Candace, Derrek reflects on lessons learned, the importance of progress, and what’s next.
