ਉਰਦੂ ਅਫਸਾਨਾਨਿਗਾਰ ਸਆਦਤ ਹਸਨ ਮੰਟੋ (11 ਮਈ 1912 ਤੋਂ 18 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1955) ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ‘ਮੰਤਰ’।
ਇਹ ਕਹਾਣੀ, ਕਹਾਣੀ-ਸ਼ਿਲਪ ਦੀ ਉਮਦਾ ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ। ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇੰਨੀ ਸਹਿਜ ਕਿ ਦਿਲ ਅਸ਼ ਅਸ਼ ਕਰ ਉਠਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਕਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਮੰਟੋ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉਹਦੇ ਪਾਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਮਜ਼ਾਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਦਿਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਅਰੁਕ ਸਿਲਸਿਲਾ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਤੱਕ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
