We live in a busy, impatient culture with a “get to the point!” mentality. But that’s not how God works much of the time. Before telling us what to do in Ephesians, he spends half the book telling us what he has already done for us! The first command for us to do anything in Ephesians doesn’t come until chapter 4:1 – “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you’ve been called…” Knowing what God has already done for us is so important that we need to take time to savor it and let that motivate us to serve him out of joy and gratitude.
