There’s an old hymn called, “Count Your Blessings,” and the idea behind the hymn is spot on. The refrain goes like this:
Count your blessings, name them one by one;Count your blessings, see what God hath done;Count your blessings, name them one by one;Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
When we slow down enough to think about all that God has done our outlook on life changes for the better. You can see all the lyrics to the hymn here. Scripture also tells us to remember the great things God has done throughout our lives. Psalm 105 starts like this:
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;make known his deeds among the peoples!Sing to him, sing praises to him;tell of all his wondrous works!
The remainder of the Psalm highlights some of the great things God had done throughout Israel’s history. With this mindset, we’ve asked Pastor David Morris of Cedar Run Community Church to share the story of what God has been doing there. We think you’ll find Cedar Run’s story relevant and compelling. And we’re trusting God to do greater than we can ask or imagine at CityView and we can learn from and be encouraged by the work of God at other local churches.
