I love grilling, and one of life’s simple pleasures is grilled food prepared with a delicious marinade. The deliciousness of the food comes from the marinade its soaked in. God wants us to marinate in the glories of what he’s done for us before we try to do anything for him. Like a good marinade, the first half of the book of Ephesians is all about what God has done for us. God wants us to soak this in before we do anything for him. The first command in Ephesians doesn’t come till the halfway point of the book – “live a life worthy of our calling”. The rest of the book unpacks some basic steps we can take to live this life. We should not think of them as a bunch of stand-alone religious rules, they make much more sense when we obey them out of gratitude for all that God has done for us. This week, we’re continuing with theme of Moving Forward (Pt 2) from 5:3-21. Outline is attached.
Speaker: Mark Seager
Series: Ephesians
