In this episode, Mark Schwanz and Chris Hoang discuss with fellow ITO Coordinator Scott Moss his journey into the EdTech world, ways we can be role models to children with understanding the frequency and the use of technology, and practical ways we can integrate media literacy in the classroom.

Scott briefly touches on the following concepts:

• Media Literacy: the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms.
• Constructivism: the idea that people actively construct or make their own knowledge, and that reality is determined by your experiences as a learner. Basically, learners use their previous knowledge as a foundation and build on it with new things that they learn.
• Critical Algorithmic Literacy (CAL): the ability to evaluate, challenge, and construct algorithmically driven media. Critical algorithmic literacy represents a synthesis of computer science and Kellner and Share’s (2019) critical media literacy,
• Lateral Reading Strategies: how to determine an author's credibility, intent and biases by searching for articles on the same topic by other writers and for other articles by the author you're checking on.
