When Derek’s father was 2 years old, he completely lost his vision in a freak accident. He went on to become one of the most accomplished athletes and motivational speakers that has ever lived. A key component of his journey was the support of his family, and specifically his son Derek who helps him navigate his career. Acting as his father’s chief of staff and sometimes his eyes, Derek has learned to communicate in a way that is unlike many people his age. As a junior at Butler University and member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, Derek’s future is certainly bright. In this episode we explore how Derek has honed his skills in communication, organization, and relationship-building as the result of his work with his father.
