Cosmic horror is such a hard concept for most to make but it comes so natural in this cult classic for John Carpenter. John Trent, an insurance investigator is tasked with finding a horror novelist who has gone missing. What starts as a simple mystery unfolds into an eldritch nightmare. With some great practical effects and psychological horror to boot, this film deserves to be more well known and drive everyone mad. Don't worry though, if you haven't seen it, "the movie comes out next month".
