Taking our cue from Jesus' parable in Matthew 25:1-14, often called the parable of the 10 virgins or 10 bridesmaids, we explore what it means to have enough oil to make it through the night. This is a disturbing parable that doesn't end with Jesus providing a soft landing or an easy way out. It's meant to be a disturbing warning to those who claim to follow Jesus and await His return. "Do you have enough oil to make it through the night?" All the women in the parable were the same except that five were wise enough to be prepared for a long wait and five were foolish and waited till it was too late. The good news that we can offer in the face of Jesus' warning is that if you're reading this, it's not too late. NOW is the time. TODAY is the day.
