Description

Asaph is a monumental character from the Old Testament. As the worship leader in the tabernacle and later in Solomon's temple, he excelled at penning his deepest feelings and always rooting them in the confidence that God is good and in control. Psalm 73 is one example of this.

Classified as a song of lament, Asaph reflects on the seeming injustice that wicked people don't seem bothered by the troubles that plague the rest of us. He began to slip and to lose heart...until he went into the sanctuary, an outpost of Eden. There he gained a much needed perspective on the actual destiny of the wicked and the righteous.

This frustration with what seems like huge injustice, that good things happen to bad people, is something many of us can relate to. But so that we don't lose heart, it is vital that we get into God's presence, the Eden that is available to all of us anytime, anywhere.
