Description

G-d’s most fervent desire is that this physical world 🌍become a place where He can reside openly; where all of creation will recognize Him as Creator and the Power 🌟 behind everything. This world, however, naturally conceals the presence of G-d 🌥️. Creations do not obviously demonstrate their spiritual origins and connection to G-d.

In order to access and maintain a connection 🔗with Him, we need to fulfill His commandments. The 613 commandments are G-d’s inner will and desire🌟🌟, the things He likes and that bring Him joy:

Tefillin🕴🏽⛩️🕴🏽,

Ritual hand washing🚰,

Tzitzit ⏸️⏸️ Etc

By fulfilling His will, you welcome His presence ✨ into this world ✨.

There are lofty levels of G-d that remain disconnected from this world 🌪️. They are too infinite to be contained by finite creations. The level of Divine Presence that can infiltrate and be contained in this world is called *Shechina* in Hebrew. The root of the word Shechina is related to the root word "Shochen" - to dwell It refers to the level of G-dliness that descends ⬇️ down to this world and stays here, instilling G-dliness into the physical creations and elevating the world into a more spiritual and holy place.

How do we get G-d to dwell in this lowly world🙄?

👉🏻 Accommodating something 🤗requires making a space for it 🙂: If you want to hear someone else 🧏🏻‍♀️, You need to be quiet 🤐. If you want to fill your cup with coffee ☕, First it needs to be empty .

Emptying a space for the divine presence ✨ means nullifying and eliminating its identity. It has to be totally apparent that this is G-dly and nothing else. Nothing can exist as its own being in the space where G-d rests.

When a king 🤴🏼wants to remove his crown 👑 in order to sleep, he does *not* place it on the head of one of his officers💂🏻‍♂️. He will only put it on a stand ⛩️ or hook ⚜️ for the crown. The officers 💂🏻‍♂️are self-aware. They feel themselves and their greatness. If the king would put the crown on one of them, he would begin to imagine himself as king 🤴🏼… A hook ⚜️ or hatstand is ~nothing~. It simply holds the crown for the king.

The same is with G-d’s presence resting on physical objects in this world. The divine presence can only reside on something that is a ~non-entity~ so that the holiness is its entire existence.

As mentioned above, souls long for G-d ✨😍 ✨. You can only long for something that you don’t have; that isn’t part of you 🙌. This means that souls have an identity separate from G-d. This applies even to Tzaddikim who are righteous 😇, G-dly people. Their souls originate from the loftiest spiritual levels and they desire ❤️‍🔥nothing other than G-dliness. This desire and longing only proves how they are indeed an entity separate from G-d.

It turns out that the only way to become united with G-d and enable Him to dwell down here in this world 🌎 is 👉🏻*through the performance of the mitzvot (commandments).* 💥 ● 💥 ● 💥 ● 💥

A soul is pure and holy but it does not automatically draw down G-d’s light and presence 💫. Mitzvot are G-d’s innermost will and desire. They exist simply because these are the things G-d enjoys. By dedicating yourself to fulfilling mitzvot, you create space within your life for G-d’s light and energy to dwell in you 💘, along with all the accompanying blessings and goodness.

When people came to the Lubavitcher Rebbe requesting blessing for physical matters, the Rebbe encouraged them to strengthen themselves spiritually by adding in the observance 🙌of a mitzvah. Based on the above, we can understand the why: G-d’s commandments are the channel of His presence - His light and energy 🔆 - to this world. By making ourselves a repository for G-d’s light, we benefit from the accompanying blessings and goodness 🥰!
