Today's "bumper" Lockdown Listen is a snapshot of the electronic organ in the 1980's as I visited the Slough HQ of Panasonic Technics for a "fly-on-the-wall" mini documentary for "Sounds Organised". The first voice you will hear is that of KEITH EVANS, followed by PHIL LEADER, TONY PEGLER and ANDY SMITH - all popular names and together forming the EMID (Electronic Musical Instrument Division) of the once-great brand in the UK. You will hear music performed by Tony and Andy on Technics G7 and there's no truth in the rumour that I still have sleepless nights from the incessant practical jokes and gaffs which (in those days of reel-to-reel recording) were too much trouble to edit out. Actually, with hindsight - I'm pretty glad I didn't. Wonderful memories, warts and all, of a great era in our organ world. Enjoy!
