Have you ever tried staring directly at the Sun? It is not possible without hurting your eyes. Similarly, the disciples had this experience at the Transfiguration. The veil of the natural was peeled back and we saw Jesus. Kind, glorious, divine Jesus shining with the brilliance of a thousand suns.
