Church Hurt is a Real Thing
In this walk family I am learning more and more why Jesus Himself said that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
“Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. - Matthew 21:31
Verse 32 goes on to say that John came to show them the way of righteousness, and they did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did.
From Matthew 21:31, we can learn several lessons about how we can be Bruised by Believer’s. Let’s Talk About to family…
- Acceptance of diverse backgrounds: In this verse, Jesus compares the tax collectors and the prostitutes to the religious leaders. It highlights that even those who were traditionally considered sinful and unworthy could find redemption and believe in Jesus. This teaches us that believers can come from all walks of life, and it is important not to judge or exclude others based on their past or present circumstances.
- Church hurt as a real thing: The mention of tax collectors and prostitutes believing in Jesus suggests that they might have faced rejection or judgment from the religious community. This indicates that church hurt can be a real issue, where believers may experience pain, rejection, or mistreatment within the church. It reminds us that Christians are not immune to causing harm to one another, and we need to be mindful of our actions and their potential impact on others.
- Following Christ as our example: Despite the imperfections and shortcomings of believers, Jesus remains the perfect example for us to follow. In the context of church hurt, we can look to Jesus' teachings and actions to guide our own behavior. He consistently showed love, compassion, and forgiveness, even to those who were considered outcasts or sinners. We should strive to emulate His character and treat others with grace and kindness.
- Praying for the Body of Christ: Recognizing that we are all broken people, it is crucial to pray for the entire Body of Christ, which refers to the collective community of believers. Prayer allows us to seek healing, unity, and restoration within the church. It helps us intercede for one another, asking God to work in our lives and relationships, promoting growth and reconciliation.
Remember, while we aspire to follow Jesus' example, we should also acknowledge our own imperfections and seek forgiveness when we fall short. The focus should always be on Jesus as the ultimate representation of perfection, and it is through Him that we find redemption and the strength to navigate the challenges of being part of a community of believers.
All Prayed Up:
Lord Jesus, there are times that I feel unworthy of Your love, however You do not love me because I am worthy; You love me because You Father are love! Thank You for Your reassurance that I am truly loved by You; therefore I have no reason to fear in Your Name Amen!
