• Is it kind?
• As Christians, we are called to follow the example of Jesus Christ, who exemplified kindness and compassion in His interactions with others. Kindness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and is emphasized throughout the Bible (Galatians 5:22-23). When we ask ourselves if something is kind, we are encouraged to consider how our words and actions affect others. Are we treating others with love and respect? Are we seeking to serve and uplift those around us? Kindness is an essential aspect of living out our faith in practical ways.
• Is it true?
• Truth is a fundamental aspect of the Christian faith. Jesus described Himself as "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). As followers of Christ, we are called to live in truth, honesty, and integrity. This applies not only to our words but also to our thoughts and intentions. We should strive to align our lives with the teachings of the Bible, seeking God's truth in all things and avoiding deceit or falsehood.
• Is it useful?
• This concept aligns with the idea of bearing good fruit and being productive in our Christian walk. As followers of Christ, we are called to be salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13-16). Our actions and words should have a positive impact on others and bring glory to God. Instead of being idle or engaging in unproductive behavior, we are encouraged to use our time, talents, and resources to serve God and our fellow human beings.

By regularly asking ourselves these three questions—Is it kind? Is it true? Is it useful?—we can cultivate a Christ-centered mindset and lifestyle. These questions challenge us to examine our motives and intentions, encouraging us to be mindful of how we treat others, the veracity of our words, and the impact of our actions. Ultimately, this process helps us grow in Christlikeness and strengthens our relationship with God as we seek to live according to His will.

All Prayed Up: 

Heavenly Father,

As I come before you in prayer, I want to approach you with a heart of kindness, truth, and usefulness.

Is it kind? Lord, I pray that you would fill my heart with genuine kindness and compassion for others. Show me how to love my neighbors as myself and to treat them with respect and empathy. May my prayers be filled with intercession for those in need, encouragement for the discouraged, and a willingness to extend forgiveness and grace to those who have wronged me.

Is it true? Father, I desire to be honest and sincere in my prayers. I acknowledge that you are the God who knows all things, and there is no hiding from your truth. Help me to be authentic and transparent before you, laying my joys, fears, doubts, and struggles at your feet. Show me any areas of my life where I might be deceiving myself or others, and lead me into your truth and righteousness.

Is it useful? Lord, I want my prayers to be aligned with your will and purposes. Open my eyes to see your plans and to seek first your kingdom in all that I pray for. Teach me to pray with faith and expectancy, trusting that you are a God who hears and answers prayers according to your perfect wisdom and timing. May my prayers bring glory to your name and bear good fruit in my life and the lives of others.

I pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord.
