How Long Lord How Long?
Psalm 6 is a prayer of David, expressing his distress and seeking God's mercy and healing. Let's take a look at what it says and how we can learn from it to live a better life for Christ.
PSALM 6
A psalm of David.
1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.
2Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;
heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
3My soul is in deep anguish.
How long, Lord, how long?
4Turn, Lord, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.
5Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
Who praises you from the grave?
6I am worn out from my groaning.
All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.
7My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.
8Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the Lord has heard my weeping.
9The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;
they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.
By studying and meditating on Psalm 6, we can deepen our understanding of God's character, His willingness to hear our prayers, and His desire to help us through life's challenges. Living a better life for Christ involves seeking God's guidance, being honest about our weaknesses, and trusting in His love and mercy as we navigate life's journey with faith and perseverance.
All Prayed Up:
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in prayer, just as David did in Psalm 6, seeking Your mercy, healing, and hearing. I acknowledge my weaknesses, knowing that I am in need of Your divine grace and guidance in every aspect of my life.
Lord, I am faint, and my soul is in anguish. There are times when I feel overwhelmed by the challenges and trials that I face. But just as David cried out to You, I too cry out, "How long, O Lord, how long?" Yet, I know that You are a compassionate and loving God, and I trust in Your unfailing love and promises.
Heal me, O Lord, for my bones are in agony. I bring before You my physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments, knowing that You are the ultimate Healer. Pour Your healing power into every area of my life, bringing restoration and renewal to my body, mind, and soul.
Thank You, Lord, for being a loving and attentive God. May Your healing touch be upon me, and may Your grace sustain me through every trial and tribulation. In Jesus' name Amen.
