Freud made a breakthrough in dream analysis, theorising that dreams were a link to our subconscious mind. He thought that if you could understand your dreams, you could solve problems you faced in life. Dream analysis is still very much used today, and Freud used dream analysis to start his method of Free Associations. Many great minds have solved problems through their dreams. You have the ability to do this. Take a look at the world around you. Everything was invented. Everything started as an idea in someone else's conscious mind. Or, in some cases, a dream. I want you to start taking notes of your dreams. If you don’t remember them on waking, put the intention in your subconscious mind before you sleep that you will remember them on waking. Write these down in your journal or another notebook if you wish. Salvador Dali painted his dreams onto canvas in the most breath-taking way.
If Larry Page hadn’t had a nightmare triggered by anxiety, we probably wouldn't have Google today. Larry dreamt he could download the whole internet onto some old computers. Why did he dream this? It turns out he feared not being accepted into Stamford University by mistake. When Larry woke up, he started to work on the maths equations and soon discovered the idea was all right. So Google was born two years later. Dr James Watson dreamt of a spiral staircase in 1953 and designed the double helix spiral structure for our DNA. Elias Howe dreamt in 1845 that he was captured by cannibals who stabbed him repeatedly with spears that had a hole in the tip. What invention was born out of this dream? The humble sewing machine. Elias Howe realised you needed an eye in the needle tip to create the lock-stitch sewing machine. He had been working on this invention for a while and figured it out from his slightly morbid dream. Einstein came up with the Theory of Relativity in his dream. You are probably wondering what on Earth his dream must have been about! He dreamt he was with a farmer and a herd of cows huddled up against a fence. The farmer turned the electric fence on, and the cows jumped back. Einstein and the farmer both saw the cows jump back, but in different ways, and this is what inspired Einstein. Events look different from different angles because the light reaches your eyes at different times. Frankenstein, The Periodic Table, The Structure of The Atom, Dr Frederick Banting solved the problem of Diabetes, and yes, even The Terminator film all came from dreams.
We are infinite divine beings. We can tap into unlimited powers when we engage our subconscious mind. Here is a personal example. My unborn child was my whole world, and I wanted nothing more than to keep him safe. So, my subconscious went into safety mode and spoke to me through dreams to keep me safe. This is how, when I was three months pregnant (December 2019), I had a recurring nightmare that I was in labour, walking down a street somewhere. I was panicking because I was alone and worried I wouldn’t make it to the hospital on time. But there was something else to worry about too. A Zombie Virus had taken over the world, and there were Zombies everywhere. I was surrounded by the dead, and everything I knew and loved was gone. The whole world was burning (literally), and I was standing there in a white T-shirt and shorts, about to give birth. My beautiful son was born at the beginning of June 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic. I had to go to the hospital alone because of restrictions and the lockdown, and I wore a white T-shirt and maternity shorts. The whole world seemed to have changed overnight, and millions tragically died. When I reflect on this dream, I see how it was a warning of things to come.
My dreams have given me so much insight into court cases that I am currently going through, dealings with the Police, and my dating life, and my dreams have also played a big part in writing my book.
