Description

This episode we are talking about the Fire Service industry with DeAntwan Harris who is a Fireman in the Omaha Nebraska area.  DeAntwan grew up in South Omaha and shared that it was the hydrant parties the Fire Department hosted in his neighborhood that sparked his initial interest in wanting to become a Fireman as a kid.

DeAntwan took us through his journey to becoming a FireFighter throughout this episode.  He shared that after losing his brother in 2015 he wanted to honor his memory with love, become the best version of himself, and show his family that you can be successful despite adversity; becoming a FireFighter helped him fulfil those things.

DeAntwan talked about not getting selected the first time he applied to become a Firefighter, and the work he put in to ensure that he’d be selected the second time around.  In this episode, he really provided a blueprint that others can follow if they are interested in becoming a FireFighter. DeAntwan also gave insight on what his day-to-day life looks like when he’s on duty, including what life is like at the Fire Station, and what takes place after they get a call.  He talked about the stressors that can come with being a Fireman and said he feels that seeing/experiencing the things that he did growing up has mentally prepared him for those stressors, and how it can also prepare others that come from similar situations.  He dropped FREE GAME throughout the episode on how others can become a FireFighter if that’s what they set out to do.
