From the late, great director, Satoshi Kon comes a work that could be described as a stream of consciousness piloted by a captain with a firm hand on the tiller.
Only the captain knows the direction the boat needs to go, and he offers no other condolences to his audience other than "trust me".
Satoshi Kon is the kind of anime director who actively goes against the grain of "traditional" anime direction.
He actively unbalanced audiences with nonlinear direction, and physically brought his characters into strange and unchartered waters.
He was a man very concerned with the social issues of his time, and it's clear he had a lot to say about the current generation.
I hold a lot of respect for him, rest in peace.
