When looking to change how we feel, it is important to work backwards. Look at how you are seeing the world. Look at how you are speaking to yourself. Your brain is wired to protect you and keep you from harm. It will look bring to your attention things it sees are relevant to your survival. But unlike the cave man days, most of the things are brain thinks it needs to protect us from will not threaten our survival. But they might make us uncomfortable and our brain does not know the difference between being in danger and being uncomfortable. So one way to not feel scared, anxious, or overwhelmed is to answer our brain. Figure out why we are feeling this way, what thoughts are we having and then answer them. Once you have given your brain an answer, it will calm the feelings of worry, fear, anxiety.
