Every one of us is fighting a battle we know nothing about…….
There is so much insight in this episode as Jane & Liv chat with Sonal Patel.
“Life is a not a sprint it’s a marathon, you need to find your truth and your calling.”
“Ask deeper questions”
“Results don’t define you”
As the Founder of Rise Girls, Sonal delivers an integrated English and Empowerment Curriculum, which covers English topics like learning new words to expand vocabulary, reading, creative writing and comprehension. This is through memorable models, bite-size learning and innovative content. Through the Empowerment Curriculum, she simultaneously helps them with self-worth, self-discovery and developing a love for learning beyond the pushing and pressuring of society's unfounded, overrated emphasis on academics, exam results and school grades.
Formerly, after leaving school, Sonal worked in London NHS Hospitals for 8 years. Firstly, as a Dentistry student for 4 years at Guy’s and King’s College Hospitals, and then a Pharmacy Technician for 4 years, at Great Ormond Street for Children and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals.
She then trained as a teacher at UCL Institute of Education and worked as a Primary Classroom Teacher for 7 to 11 year olds for 4 years, before leaving in 2019 to tutor full time.
The purpose behind Rise Girls comes from Sonal's own challenging childhood. Initially, the King’s College London graduate built her self-worth on insanely high grades. Unexpectedly, it all came crashing down in a mountain carting accident she had at 19, on a family holiday in Switzerland in 2004.
Now, she is raising awareness for parents, educators and any adult involved in the care of young people, to be preventive and proactive in raising children with a resilient growth mindset, empathy and creativity so they can truly thrive, even amidst failure, fear and difficulty. This REAL EDUCATION.
She also enjoys creative cooking (top-secret ingredient: LOVE), reading and writing. Her favourite way of passing time is engaging in deep, meaningful conversations and quality time experiences with family, friends and her parent-student community, and then sharing and rippling that energy out into wider global society, through social media. Her content focuses on English, Empowerment and Education, also including topics like spirituality, self care, personal growth, purposeful career choice, relationships, and community building.
