Description

Caroline interviews Shane Autumn Nebbia, the author of a new children's book titled "They Call Me Brave: a children's book about cancer." Having seen the impact childhood cancer had on her niece Ava, Shane wanted to illustrate both the struggles and the joys of life through a story that Ava and other children could relate to. Shane hopes that this book can help other children and their families realize that they are not alone in the battle. We discuss her creative process of becoming a book author, the importance of education and inclusivity around language when talking about cancer and someone's journey, and the underestimated power of an excel sheet.

Shane's passion for storytelling began at a young age, which led her to a career in communications where she helps other people tell their own unique stories.
