Description

This year, we’re focusing on building God’s temple. In the book of Haggai, the Israelites were discouraged and ended up building up their own houses while God’s temple remained in ruins. How was God supposed to dwell with them? Protect them? And how were they supposed to atone for their sins? It just wasn’t happening.

Haggai’s message resonates with us. What are we doing that doesn’t allow God to dwell within us? Are we too busy focusing on things that God has given us, rather than focusing on Him? Are we looking for purpose in our relationships, our careers, our degrees, rather than just being with Him? Are we open to God dwelling in the depths of our hearts and being our portion, regardless of whatever situation we’re in?

Bible Passage:

“Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes.’” Haggai 1:5-6 (ESV)
