In this episode, I share the lie that almost killed me.

I truly believed that if I just used all my spiritual tools—meditation, journaling, clean eating, movement, breathwork—my body would eventually feel better. I was doing everything “right.” I was disciplined. Devoted. Committed. And yet, the more I pushed, the worse my body became.

What I didn’t realize was that I was living in a constant state of nervous system dysregulation. Chronic fight, flight, and freeze had become my baseline. My body was on high alert all the time. My cortisol levels were so elevated that my body began to shut down. I became so sick I couldn’t eat for six months. I was exhausted, burnt out, depressed, oversleeping, unable to think clearly, and constantly overwhelmed by external triggers I didn’t know how to move through.

Even as a practitioner—someone trained in nervous system work, somatic practices, and spiritual healing—I kept pushing. I believed effort would save me. I believed discipline would heal me. I believed rest was weakness.

It wasn’t.

The medicine was in safety.
The medicine was in rest.
The medicine was in learning how to feel safe in my body again.

Things became so severe that even my intuitive channel shut down. I lost connection to my guides and ancestors—something that had always been a constant in my life. That silence was one of the most terrifying moments I’ve ever experienced, and it forced me to finally listen.

At my breaking point, I ended a relationship, stopped everything, and chose to rebuild my life from safety instead of survival. I slowed down. I learned how to regulate my nervous system. I learned how to release stress from my body instead of bypassing it. I learned how to trust my body again—and how to become someone my body could trust.

This episode is about why you can’t meditate your way into a regulated nervous system, how spiritual bypassing can keep trauma locked in the body, and why true healing requires safety, regulation, and capacity—not more pushing.
